TISSUES: Thank you to the families who have sent in tissues this year. I appreciate your donation. As we enter a time of colds AND allergies, we are down to our last box. If you are able to send in a box to get us through this next month in a half that would be great. Thank you!!!


WORD WORK: Our class will learn to read and spell words with plural word endings using ies and eys.


SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER: It’s hard to believe but this will be our last book order for the year. On Friday, a book order flyer came home. If you would like to purchase books, please submit orders by Monday, April 20th at 7PM.   


Springtime Activities:  The days are getting longer and busier as spring activities are getting underway.  Please help your child perform well by getting enough sleep and continuing 20 minutes of reading as well as 5-10 minutes of math fact practice nightly.  We appreciate the encouragement and support you give your child to do his/her best at school each day.  Thank you


Library Books:  Please help your child remember to return or renew his/her library books.  The media center is asking students to return late books and monitor how many books they have checked out to ensure all books are returned by the end of the year.

  Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM      9/24 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time. Please have your child read the poem to you or share the poem with your child and discuss the words and meaning as part of  your nightly reading.  WELCOME MISS MAEVE: We will have a highschool cadet in our classroom this year on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon.
