THIS WEEK: I will be away from the classroom this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to attend to the medical needs of a family member.  I am pleased to share that Mrs. Davis will be with the class for the duration of my absence. While I plan to stay connected and monitor classroom progress, please contact the office for any immediate needs regarding transportation or student appointments. For all other concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly.


WORD WORK: Our class will have a review week.  We will revisit prior week word lists which includes -le, -able, -ible, -cal, -cle, -ge, -dge, ei, -ch, -tch, -ture, au, and aw.


VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: Thank you to everyone who made our Valentine’s Day Party a special treat.  We appreciate you more than words can convey and hope you had a wonderful time, too.


MUSIC PERFORMANCE:   Our program week is here! This Wednesday, February 18th our 2nd graders will perform their show, Hats two times.  The students will perform for the school on Wednesday morning at Lincoln at 9:45.  Please make sure your child brings their hat and arrives at school on time that day.  The next performance will take place at the St. Joseph High School at 6:30 p.m.   Please arrive with your second grader around 6:15.  Your child will be staying with you in the audience until Mrs. Richards calls everyone to the stage. Unfortunately, I will not be there. The students know this and are also aware that Mrs. Knuth will be standing in my place just off stage.  Here is a link to the website with more information.


SARETT FIELD TRIP: Our second graders will be traveling to Sarett Nature Center on March 5th in the morning from 

9:30 -10:30.  We will be learning about maple sugaring and need to dress for the weather.  Parents are welcome to join us at Sarett but there is an admission fee.  More information will be coming soon.  Please email me if you are planning to attend as there is specific information you need to know.

  Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM      9/24 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time.
