Weekly Update

Happy New Year: I hope everyone had a wonderful vacation and is ready to return to school tomorrow! Students please remember to bring his or her take home folder, water bottle, and morning snack.
Winter Gear: Please help your child enjoy the three outdoor recesses by having your child wear
warm clothing each day. A winter coat, hat, gloves or mittens, snow pants, and boots
make it possible to be comfortable and play in the snow.
Word Work: Our class will continue to learn about the -cal and -cle word patterns this
week as in typical, bicycle, and musical. Students should read their word lists, discuss
the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.
Dinosaur Museum & SBC Field Trip: Our classes will be taking a field trip to the
Dinosaur Museum and South Bend Chocolate Company on February 5th. We will leave
by bus at 9:15 and return by 2:45. Our time in both locations will be from 10-2. Students
will need to bring a sack lunch. Order forms for school lunch will come home January 5th
and are due back by January 7th. For this trip, parents will be in charge of their own
transportation and the entrance fee will be $15 per adult. The costs of this field trip are covered by a St Joseph Foundation grant. Let us know by January 16th if you would
like to join us.
Library Books: Just a reminder library books are due on the day we visit the media
center each week. Please help your child return books on time. Thank you
