Word Work: This week our class will be learning about the suffixes tion and sion as in the words celebration, information, passion, and vision. Students will interact with the words through a method called dot & dashing, discuss the meaning of the words, and games. 


Halloween Party: Thank you so much to all of the parents who helped either with your time or with supplies to make our Halloween party a great success. Everyone had such a wonderful afternoon!


Math Night: We are excited to partner with Hope University to share some fun games and resources with families around fact fluency. Join us Thursday, November 13th from 5:30-6:30 PM. Please RSVP to the Second Grade Family Math Night by Wednesday, November 12th. We can't wait to see you!

Absence: I will be out of the classroom from Wednesday to Friday. Mrs. Davis will be with the students during that time. I will be monitoring my email and school messenger daily for any questions or concerns.


Thanksgiving Luncheon:  Our Lincoln School Thanksgiving Luncheon will be Thursday, November. 21st. Due to space, only volunteer servers are able to join us. Thank you for your understanding. 


Scholastic Book Order: A book order is coming home on Monday, November 3rd. I will submit it on Monday, November 10th. Also save the date, the media center will be having a book fair at Lincoln School from Dec. 5th - 12th.

  Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM      9/24 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time. Please have your child read the poem to you or share the poem with your child and discuss the words and meaning as part of  your nightly reading.  WELCOME MISS MAEVE: We will have a highschool cadet in our classroom this year on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon.
