No School / Teacher Professional Development Day


Thank You:  Thank you to all our families for your hard work and generous donations for Laps for Lincoln.  It was wonderful to see everyone walking and celebrating our success. Your donations will help provide many educational opportunities for your children.  Please mark your calendars and attend our PTO meetings each month to be a part of how these funds will be spent.


Student Included Conferences: Conferences are just around the corner.  We are excited to include students again this year. During our 20 minutes together, your child and I will share information about their progress, goals, and future learning. If you have questions that you prefer to discuss without your child present, please send me an email ahead of time so that I am able to allow time during our 20 minute conference.


Word Work: Our class will be learning about the /oo/ syllable pattern for the next two weeks. Our syllable pattern makes the sound as in blue, moon, youth. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. 


Homework: Our October reading logs and math activity sheet will be due at the end of the month. Please help your child record any work done at home as it is completed.

  Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM      9/24 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time.
