We have gym and our field trip to the high school.

9/10We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.   We have library.

NEW TECHNOLOGY: Our alert system is experiencing some of the hiccups that are common with something new. We will continue to send things through both the alert and email platform while our IT department continues to work out the kinks. According to Mrs. Knuth more information will be coming out to staff, parents, and other trusted adults as these problems are resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding.   

KINDNESS ASSEMBLY: Here is a recap of the information that has been in Mrs. Knuth’s blog about our kindness assembly on Monday, September 8 from 9:15-11:15.  

“On Monday, Sept. 8, thanks to our Saint Joseph Public Schools Foundation, our Lincoln scholars will join Brown School and E.P. Clarke students at the St. Joseph High School auditorium for a special back to school assembly called Kindness Quest.

What is Kindness Quest? Check out this preview!

Kindness Quest is a forty-minute interactive laser adventure that promotes caring, empathy, and compassion through community and friendship. Students join superheroes, a treasure map, and a space robot on a journey with laser character Max Bravado, using games, puzzles, and illusions to unlock the “keys to kindness.” With dazzling effects, energizing music, and engaging activities, this special program makes character education both fun and memorable.”

NWEA: Our window for taking the reading and math NWEA will be from Sept.8 - Sept.19th. Students cannot prepare for this test ahead of time. Please continue to have your child get plenty of rest each night and eat a healthy breakfast. Thank you.

HOMEWORK IDEAS: Students will have two papers in the sleeves of their folder this month. One is a reading log if your child wants to track nightly reading and the other is a list of suggested math practice.

LAPS TO LINCOLN: We are a month away from our whole school event. Please make sure to mark your calendars for Thursday,October 3, 5-7pm for our Laps for Lincoln celebration! More information will be coming soon.

  Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM      9/24 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time. Please have your child read the poem to you or share the poem with your child and discuss the words and meaning as part of  your nightly reading.  WELCOME MISS MAEVE: We will have a highschool cadet in our classroom this year on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon.
