Weekly Update August 25, 2025 Welcome to Second Grade! 8/25 We have gym. 8/26 We have STEM time in the Media Center. 8/27 We have library. 8/28 We have art. 8/29 No School / Happy Labor Day Weekend! WELCOME: I am looking forward to our first week in second grade and all the great learning we have ahead of us. Thank you for sharing your child and being a part of our Lincoln School Family. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the ice-cream social. It is such a fun night to meet everyone. I am excited about the year ahead. WORD WORK: This week our class will continue to learn about adding suffix endings -er and -est to words as in the words big, bigger, biggest. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. NWEA: Second graders have worked hard completing their NWEA assessments this past week. Any student who was unable to finish the reading or math tests will complete their tests on Monday, May 18th and/or Tuesday, May 19th. Results will be sent home in your child’s report card. Weekly Update September 22, 2025 9/22 We have gym. 9/23 We have STEM 9/24 We have a late start. We have library. Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading. Laps for Lincoln: Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.
