  Weekly Update September 29, 2025 9/29 We have gym.  9/30 We have STEM time.  10/1 We have a late start.    We have library. Please return all books. 10/2 We have art. 10/3 We have music.     Word Work : Our class will be learning about the r-controlled syllable pattern this week. Words that follow this pattern include artist, teacher, direct, actor, and curly. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had a wonderful week of fundraising and great bear behaviors.  I am excited to see everyone on Friday for the walk at Lincoln School from 5-7. Thank you for your support.  Math:   Our second graders are nearing the end of unit 1 in math.  From some of the papers coming home, you can see we have focused on proving how to solve addition and subtraction problems...

Please return books 9/25 We have art. 9/26 We have music and Football Readers Word Work : This week our second graders will be learning words that are -vce syllables. This rule includes words like made, globe, quite, escape, and suppose. We will be sending home a list of -vce words on Monday for students to practice reading throughout the week. Spelling is not expected but can be practiced if time allows. A poem will be sent home on Thursday for your child to read with you as part of their nightly reading.  Laps for Lincoln:  Our Laps for Lincoln fundraiser is off to a great start.  We had an exciting assembly on Friday and packets came home in each student's folder along with a letter detailing the information. Weekly Update September 15, 2025 915 We have gym.  9/16 We have STEM.     All School Picture 9/17 We have a late start. School will start at 9:25 a.m.      We have library. Bring books back please.  It is Constitution Day 9/18 We have art. 9/19 We have music and the football readers will visit WORD WORK: This week our second graders will be learning words that are open syllables.  This includes words like; be, by, me, and cry. Students will bring home a poem on Thursday nights which use our syllable pattern words and other high-frequency words being practiced in our whole group learning time. Please have your child read the poem to you or share the poem with your child and discuss the words and meaning as part of  your nightly reading.  WELCOME MISS MAEVE: We will have a highschool cadet in our classroom this year on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon.
